Compare and contrast Columbus and Magellan how they are different and why they are important. There are many different ways Columbus and Magellan are different. Columbus is a very interesting person for lots of reasons. When Columbus was a little boy he had 2 really important dreams. Magellan didn’t have very many dreams when he was little of what we know. Columbus` first dream he had was to go to sea. The second dream he had was, he wanted to go to china. When he was older he accomplished his dream to go to sea but he didn’t accomplish his dream to go to china. Magellan wanted to go to china and he did. That’s something that they had in conmen they both wanted to china. That’s when the big thing that happened to Columbus started. The reason why he wanted to go to china is because he wanted to prove to everyone that the world isn’t flat and that you couldn’t fall off the world and also to prove that the world was very big. When he was older on his way to china he got off cores and ended up in a new place (of what he thought) called America. After he managed to get to a new world he made a lot of other voyages but Columbus had some voyages that didn’t work and ones that did. On one of Magellan’s voyages he discovered a way to get to china by crossing the pacific and you started by the tip of South America. On one of his voyages he met an Indian tribe (native American) and they were really nice to them and gave him food and gave him a place to rest then the Indians (native Americans) said to. Columbus and his men to go find their own food. Columbus didn’t want to because he didn’t like harvesting food. Columbus got really angry so he started to threaten them and said that they were going to kill them. Columbus killed them and when Columbus came back a lot of people didn’t like him very much because he killed people that helped him. For the rest of Columbus’ life people didn’t really like him very much. When he died in 1509 he lived to be 58. Magellan was born in 1480-1521 he lived to be 41, both Columbus and Magellan died very young. After died he started to become famous. One thing that is very interesting about him is that after he died people started to draw portraits of him but the problem with his portraits was that no one knew what he looked like the way they found out what he looked like a little bit was by his brothers because they knew him best. Magellan went to many places like the spice island sailing around Cape of Good Hope across the Indian Ocean. Magellan found china by sailing from Spain. On one of Magellan’s voyages him and his men stayed for 5 months with the Patagonians. Magellan was a man of vision. If Magellan realized something wrong he would stick with it and see where he would end up. Magellan was a very brave sailor. Magellan was sailing from sanlucar on September 20th, 1519. Magellan had no intention to sail all the way around the word; he intended to return to Spain by his outward-bound route. Magellan and Columbus are different in many ways but they have 1 (I think) important thing they have in common is they were both really brave to take all of these risks J Compare and contrast Columbus and Magellan how they are different and why they are important.
